Mountain View, Highland, and Calvary Cemetery in Colville, Washington

The Colville Cemetery is actually 3 cemeteries; Mountain View, Highland, and Calvary. Calvary and Highland run into each other on the south side of Ricketts Road between Aladdin and Madison, while Mountain View is across to the north side of Ricketts. Together they cover about 20 acres and are owned by the Danekas Funeral Home. The Calvary and Highland areas have many nice older headstones, the Mountain View side has all headstones flush with the ground.

I've been visiting the Colville Cemetery pretty regularly for as long as I can remember. I have a lot of family there. When I was a little girl we used to bring flowers on Memorial Day. Another example of how different the world was back then. We would pick fresh flowers from my Grandma's garden and bring them to the family graves. Now it seems that most people are cremated and scattered in various places or left in a jar or plastic bag at home. I kind of liked the cemeteries and the idea of everyone being together there. It was somehow comforting to visit everyone and leave flowers.
